  • Verify that you are entering the correct Download Code, it is a 16-digit code that is sent to your email address after you made the purchase.
  • If some numbers are hard to read, try entering similar numbers. (For example, a 0 may look like an 8, a 5 may look like a 2, etc).
  • Restart your device and check if it's been loaded to your account.

If you are getting this error, please verify you are entering the download code correctly before trying again. If you're still getting the error, please wait a short while before trying to redeem the download code again.



The Code You Entered Could Not Be Recognized or Invalid



  • Verify that you are entering the correct Download Code, it is a 16-digit code that is sent to your email address after you made the purchase.
  • If some characters are hard to read, try entering similar characters. (For example, a 0 may look like an 8, a 5 may look like a 2, etc).
  • A download code can only be redeemed on a Nintendo eShop set to the same region as the game. (For example, a code sold for use in the United States can only be redeemed with a Nintendo Account and/or Nintendo eShop also set to the United States.)
  • If you are attempting to use a download code or system from a different region (a North American download code with a European system, for example), the download code will not work. You may wish to give the download code to someone who will be able to redeem it or work with the retailer who sold you the download code.
  • If the download code is still not working, it may not have been activated correctly at the store. Please check with the retailer that provided the code.

NOTE: We don't provide replacements/refunds for products that are already redeemed to the account. Refunds are only processed provided that the product is in its unused condition and can be sold on. Used products are not eligible for refunds.
